Leave the Duggars Alone

The Duggars are Considering Adoption

I admit, when I saw the headline, my first thought was those people are just insane.  I certainly hope God tells them to settle down.

But you know what?  Let's leave them alone and quit criticizing.  Yes, they have 19 kids, and their oldest son is on his way to creating his own mega-brood.  And most of us can't begin to imagine having that many kids of our own.  (For my part, I think, good thing she didn't carry that pesky Fragile X gene, because that family would be a whole lot different, and I bet God would have told them to stop having kids sooner.) But so far, the Duggar offspring are wonderful kids.  They are kind and compassionate.  They are raising their kids to do good in the world.  And they have money and influence, and they feel drawn to reach out to kids in orphanages, who are the most disadvantaged children in the world.

I don't see many of their critics doing that.  Maybe you (the critics) should shut up and figure out what you can do to make this world a more loving place where we have empathy for each other, and judge each other less.  Where we spend our time finding out how we can help each other rather than scrambling to best each other.

Good for them.  They do an awful lot of good, while the rest of us are busy judging them for it.  I don't have it in me to raise that many kids, so more power to them.  Those are kids that, my prediction is, will each contribute to society in a beneficial way.  And if that's the case, they should make more and more Duggars, because if the evening news is any indication, we need more honest, loving people around this earth.

  1. WHERE do you find time to write "non-FX stuff?!" I just found this tab! I really do hope you are writing a book, sister. And I feel the same way about Duggar's 100%! I miss my cable so the adoption is news to me.
